چکیده

We further study the validity of the Monte Carlo Hamiltonian method. The advantage of the method, in comparison with the standard Monte Carlo Lagrangian approach, is its capability to study the excited states. We consider two quantum mechanical models: a symmetric one V (x) = |x|/2; and an asymmetric one V (x) = ∞, for x < 0 and V (x) = x, for x ≥ 0. The results for the spectrum, wave functions and thermodynamical observables are in agreement with the analytical or RungeKutta calculations. PACS numbers: 02.50.Ng, U, 03.65.-w, 03.65.Ge

We report quantum Monte Carlo calculations of ground and low-lying excited states for nuclei with A ≤ 7 using a realistic Hamiltonian containing the Argonne v18 two-nucleon and Urbana IX three-nucleon potentials. A detailed description of the Green’s function Monte Carlo algorithm for systems with state-dependent potentials is given and a number of tests of its convergence and accuracy are perf...

The Monte Carlo Hamiltonian method developed recently allows to investigate ground state and low-lying excited states of a quantum system, using Monte Carlo algorithm with importance sampling. However, conventional MC algorithm has some difficulties when applying to inverse potentials. We propose to use effective potential and extrapolation method to solve the problem. We present examples from ...

Ordering and correlation of cluster orientations in CaCd6

In order to study the low temperature phase transition in CaCd6, which is attributed to a reordering of the innermost tetrahedral cluster shells, accurate Embedded-Atom-Method potentials are developed for this system. With these potentials, the ideal cluster structure and the couplings between neighbouring clusters are determined. From these data, an effective hamiltonian for the cluster orient...

Hamiltonian and Potentials in Derivative Pricing Models: Exact Results and Lattice Simulations

The pricing of options, warrants and other derivative securities is one of the great success of financial economics. These financial products can be modeled and simulated using quantum mechanical instruments based on a Hamiltonian formulation. We show here some applications of these methods for various potentials, which we have simulated via lattice Langevin and Monte Carlo algorithms, to the p...

Monte Carlo Hamiltonian

We construct an effective Hamiltonian via Monte Carlo from a given action. This Hamiltonian describes physics in the low energy regime. We test it by computing spectrum, wave functions and thermodynamical observables (average energy and specific heat) for the free system and the harmonic oscillator. The method is shown to work also for other local potentials. PACS index: o3.65.-w, 05.10.Ln ∗Cor...
